L1B 221(g) admin processing passports held

Hi All,

I and my wife attended L1B/L2 visa interview @Chennai consulate on 22nd July and was given 221g pink slip and put under admin processing.

The visa officer asked only two question, "what do you do in this xxx company","how long are you with this company".

I was then redirected by the Visa officer to a VFS officer counter who took all the petition(blanket) documents along with passport, copy of resume and updated that the visa might take maximum eight weeks to get approved.

I have close to 7 years experience in my company and have no clues on why my application was put under admin processing

Elan, If they have taken your passport, I think, processing probably may take up to 2 months as what informed by them to you.. but it varies case to case basis.

Pronab, did you check today's PDF? Whats the status? In my case, I am thinking to send email to my VO who interviewed me..But to be or not to be? Still in dual mind.. What do you think?

Yes I have checked 1st August PDF. My case is still pending. Now I have completed 2 months from interview date. Don't know what to do.

How you will get the email id of your VO? If you able to manage his email id then you can send.

Recently consulate publishing PDFs frequently....but no significant change.

Now I am in a hopeless & helpless situation.

Yes you are right but looks like more cases are getting added instead of clearing the old ones...
As I have stamped petitoin forms (visa approved till Apr 2014) with me in which VO name and his signature is there. So I believe, I can find his email id.
I think, if you were calling DOS, atlealst they can give idea on where is AAP currently? Which state, which agency etc.. Isn't it? At least they should keep some transparency @ 221g.

There is no transparency @ this type of processing. I called DOS several times and every time got answer that it is pending under administrative processing, nothing else. I gone thru Security Advisory Opinion this time. It is helpful to understand the process.

I got the below information there-
"as of November 30, 2004, 87% of Visas Mantis cases (one of the various kinds of SAOs) has been cleared in 30 days or less, 5% were taking 31–60 days, 5% were taking 61–90 days, 1% were taking 91–120 days and the final 2% were taking more than 120 days" .....I think this is not correct @ current scenario

h1b case stuck with pink slip for past 5 weeks

I am in a similar situation with pink slip on my hand. I handed over additional documents to kolkata consulate on 28th June. It's been 5 weeks now and my hdfc bar code has moved from 277 to 183 so far in the website PDF.

@ Pronab : I noticed that for past 10 days the barcodes have hardly moved up. Infact last week (week ending July 31st) my hdfc bar code moved up 4 rows and then came back 4 rows.
Another worrying this I've noticed is that if you notice the bar codes that are "Completed" they are the same ones for last 5 weeks. Only one of them was removed from the PDF and one new one got added sometime last month. Other than that I don't see any changes in status of any other cases .
I wonder what's the average time kolkata consulate takes to clear pink slips.

Hi, i am also in a similar situation. Attended interview with family on 7th @hyderabad. VO gave white slip and informed me to reply to the questenaire. I replied on 8th with supporting document. Till today it is showing that it is under adminitrative processing. I would like to know what is that PDF you are referring? How to check that?

@rajrahulraj: I have also noticed the same. It is also mentioned in the kolkata consulate website that if your bar code is removed from the pdf you can think your case is processed. It is totally confusing.

@KIRANKCH: We are talking about the PDF of kolkata consulate administrative processing cases. You can check your status from hyderabad us consulate website.

Hi all,

I am also on the same boat. Was interviewed on 20th June 2011 in Mumbai US Consulate. Still the status is pending. Its been around 40 days. Any updates from you guys? Did any one of you got the visa approval. Let me know.

Can you pls tell me what information they told you to provide after interview. I was asked to submit a form with information like current&previous employment,family information,address etc.

Today I got an email from consulate stated "Please send the required information as we have asked you on the day of your interview at the earliest." ....I am confused. I have asked for the detials.

Anwar, One of my friend got yellow slip from Mumbai for his B1 last year Oct 2010 and it took exactly 2 months for his clearance. He is having ~15 years of IT experience. So I guess, nothing can be done apart from waiting.

Pronab, atleast some movement in your case. Did you call up consulate office for such ambiguous email? is the same email id <[email protected]> you received email from?

Hi Farajana,

Yes I have received the email from <[email protected]> as I had asked about my case 20days back to this address. They just replied today morning that more information is needed, I have replied on top of that email that no other information was asked on the date of interview. After some time I received another email as - "You are right. Your application is still under administrative processing and we will contact you as soon as it is completed"

Now I am in the same situation. Nothing can be done
