L1 visa Pending under 221(g) Admin Processing

A big congrats June7thAAP. Long wait for you got over. Must be feeling nice about it.. How many of you were there in total(including you and all L2s). Are you seeing any special mention of clearance received date on each of these passports ? Or is it just your passport which has this "clearance received" date. That date will tell us how much time the consulate took after receiving the clearance.

I am also waiting since 7th June 2011. I have applied L1B and L2 for my family. Hoping to get it soon. It's tough to wait.

Common muslim name could very well be the case of the 221g admin processing. No one can predict the time that will take to complete the admin process since they are case by case basis.

I had my L2 VI at kolkata on 12th Aug and was given a pink slip 221g mentioning needs administrative processing. My husband's L1 was approved on the same day.
can anyone please help me to understand what all they do during this and how long should i expect the turnaround as i am a dependent of my husband and needs to travel soon.

Did anyone got clearance during that time frame? they hardly update the online sheet and removed few of the pending recordswithout changing their status.
i have a muslim name, did this triggered 221g?

@pearl82 - I totally agree with Shervin143. However I think, if they have retained your passport, process probably may take little lesser time. {This is just my opinion, going thru blogs}

Completed 3 months today..still waiting for clearence.

Hi Pronab, After studying many cases from past Kolkata PDF files, I have seen them getting cleared after 3 months waiting period. So, I positively think that your case will get cleared very soon. Monday being long weekend in US, I doubt if there are many updates (except addition) in the Tuesday 6Th Sept PDF. Also, 15th and 16th Holiday, so they better should clear the 3 months pending cases before that.

Lets hope for the best.

I've attend the Visa interview on 28th of June and was given with the blue sheet pending for administrative process. My passport was sent back to me after a week.
Since then, the status remained the same "your visa is under process at the US Embassy/Consulate"

I too got a pink slip from Chennai consulate.
- Had been for visa stamping on Aug 29th - L1A for myself and L2 for wife.
- VO asked basic questions - where do you work? how long you are manager etc to me? To my wife , how long were u in US before (we were earlier in USA on H1B)

She handed over pink slip and asked to go to counter # 31.

@ Counter 31 - (Indian Staff) they asked details of countries I have visited outside of India to which I provided after looking at passport.

She kept the passport and told that they will get back to us in 4-6 weeks. Pink slip says 90 days..

Anybody knows really -- how long does it take?

were you on a blanket visa or individual ? from what i have heard it is taking around 3 mths...it could be done much sooner as well though !

L2 VIsa pending

Myself and my wife attended the interview on 27-Jun-11. I got my visa but my wife visa is still pending admin process. It's almost 74 days over. Pleaese give me ur contact#. I need to speak to you.

Hi All,

I and my wife attended L1B/L2 visa interview @Chennai consulate on 22nd July and was given 221g pink slip and put under admin processing.

The visa officer asked only two question, "what do you do in this xxx company","how long are you with this company".

I was then redirected by the Visa officer to a VFS officer counter who took all the petition(blanket) documents along with passport, copy of resume and updated that the visa might take maximum eight weeks to get approved.

I have close to 7 years experience in my company and have no clues on why my application was put under admin processing

The same thing happened to my wife. I got approved L1 on the same day, but my wife was is still pending admin process. They told for 12 weeks. But I am not sure about the day. I will send mail if they process my wife visa even after 3 months.
