  • L1 Visa Extension

    Hi All,
My L1 Visa and I 94 is expiring in Jan, 2012. My company is ready to apply for an extension.
Lets say if the extension is approved, I will get a new I 94 based on which I can stay probably till Jan, 2014. If I have to leave US after my current VISA expires (Jan, 2012) I will have to get a new Visa stamping done before re-entry. But the question I have is, if I get my extension done now successfully,
1 - Do I have to handover both the I 94 (Old & New) while exiting?
2 - If I re-enter US before my current Visa expires without a new stamping done, but with extension papers, can I stay till Jan, 2014?
3 - Is the stamping a must once your extension is done, even if you re-enter US before the current Visa expires?
4 - How long typically does the extension process take?

Thanks in advance for being patient with my questions.

    Regards,
    Alok

    Yes

That will be determined at POE and a new I-94 will be issued.

You only need a Visa if the one in your passport is expiring before travel date. But it does not hurt to apply if it is close to expiry.
4 - How long typically does the extension process take?
2-3 months regular, 15 days premium processing.
Thanks in advance for being patient with my questions.

    See above.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
