  • L1 extension process

    Hi,
I am a L1B visa holder which got issued in Sept 2007. After that I applied for an extension in 2010 and right now it got extended up to Sept 2012. I am also done with L2 for my spouse while filing 1st extension.

Although it got issued in 2007, I stayed in USA only about 17 months combining 3 different visits in different timings. Right now I am in India and about to fly for a company assignment.

My question is - Can I again extend this L1-B visa further in 2012 because my total physical stay period is less? How many extensions are allowed for L1B and what is the exact rule?

It would be very helpful if somebody can clarify it. I can do plannings accordingly since I am going to take my spouse with me and she has to leave her job. If it cannot be extended then only for 1 year US stay. I might not take her.

Yes, you can. Only the time spent in the US counts.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
