First time H1B Stamping in London for UK Visitors

Hi,

I hold an L1 status with my current employer in US. I am working in US for more than 4 years now. The L1 expiry date on my passport is 07-Dec-2011. My current employer also filed my H1B with COS (change of status), which has been approved effective 01-Oct-2011. So, my status will automatically change from L1 to H1 on 01-Oct-2011.

I have to travel to UK in Nov-2011 to attend a conference. Can I go to the US Embassy at London to stamp my H1B? Are there any complications that anybody knows of. Please share your experiences and ideas.

If this is your first time H1B stamping, then there are chances that the U.K consulate may ask you to go back to your home country and get the stamping there (Unless you did your studies in U.S) because it is hard for them to validate your educational documents.

I am in a similar situation with few changes -

a. I got my Masters in US
b. This is my first H1-B, so its change of status.

I will have to be in Lodon for office work during first week of December, so can I get my H1-B stamped in London?
