EAD - renewal

Hi!
I am on L2 visa with EAD.
My visa expires on september 11, 2011, so as my EAD.
I have applied for Visa extension, and still has not received any news about extension.
Can I apply for EAD renewal now, or should I wait for visa extension.
Please help me out, I am confused.

You should have sent the EAD application with the extension of status application. You can try applying now by attaching a copy of the extension receipt and a cover letter. It may or may not work. EAD will not be approved before the extension in any case. You may also need to stop working after the current EAD expires.

Can I go for a vacation to India after applying for EAD?

No. Travel is not advised when a status related application is pending.
