EAD after applying for L2

Hi,
My husband and me are on L1 for the same company. Recently my company filed for change of status from L1 to L2 for me on my request. I got EAC number for L2 but, the L2 processing is not completed yet. Can I apply for EAD at this stage?

No. You need to get it approved first.

I have a doubt. I read like L1 to L2 conversion and EAD can be applied together. But, EAD can't be applied with EAC number I got for L2? I should wait till I get my L2 approved?
