Need info reg L2/EAD

Hi All,

Me and my wife are both currently working on L1-B.
My wife is planning to quit her job and get a L2 and EAD.
How long does it take to get a L2 visa?
If she quits now, does she has to travel back to India and get L2 and come back or can she stay here just by applying for L2?
And how easy is it to get EAD?
Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

She can change her status within the US using form I-539. The application must be received by USCIS before her last day of work with the L1 employer. EAD can also be applied in the same envelope.
After successful change of status, she will get a new I-94 showing L2 status and expiry date (acc. to your L1 I-94). After that point whenever she leaves the US, she will have to obtain an L2 Visa in order to return in L2 status.
