L1B extension

Hi,

My L1b visa expires in march2012. I have my I 94 till may2014.But I have to travel to india during 2012 march 1st week. Can I have my visa extended from inside the united states now?
if the extension is granted can I simply use this for getting my visa stamped in India or do I need to file a separate petition again to get my visa stamped.
Please let me know on the same.

You can get a Visa only when you are outside the US.
When you travel, you can apply at a nearby consulate like before and return in L1 status like before.
If current Visa is valid on the date date of return, you can even use that.
