  • L1A Visa- Job Transfer

    Hi,

I am on L1A visa and have been in the US since last 6 months. Since last few months, my company is having a financial problem and several senior managers have left the company. I too have a job offer from another company and they have told me to sort our my visa issues first. In one of your old posts, I read that l1A is transferrable and UCICS need to be informed. Can you please explain this please ? Can I join another company with my present L1A visa and inform UCICS and apply for green card immediately thru my new employer ?

L1 is an intra company transfer visa. You cannot transfer the L1 from one company to another.

You need to find an employer who can sponsor you an H1B. The H1B should be filed as a COS from L1A and when that gets approved, you can start working for the H1B employer as of the effective date mentioned in the approval notice.

GC process need to be started by the employer based on your skill set.
