L2 Visa Query

Hi,

My Wife has recently got a Indian Passport . She has to apply for L2 (dependent visa) for coming to USA. But in the passport she observed that her "Mothers Last Name" was mispelled . That is in the Last Name it was typed as "Y" instead of "T" in her mothers last name .
At the same time her name and her fathers name was printed correctly.

Will there be any problem with her mothers name while applying for L2 (dependent visa) and at the VISA interview and at the Port of Entry?

Is there any work around for this situation. If it has to be corrected how long will it take to get it corrected at hyderabad passport office?

I would rather taking any chances, go to passport office and ask them to rectify the error. They will update on observation page. I don't know timing about that process at Hyderabad's office but I think it's very less.
