L1B Extension

Hi,
Can I file for an extension for L1B Visa from US itself without travelling back to India.
I am worried about L1 visa's getting highly rejected from India.

L1 visa and L1 status are two different things.

You need the status to live in the U.S. and you can file for its extension only in the U.S.

You need L1 visa to travel into the U.S. Once you have the L1 status extension, if you travel outside the U.S., you will need a valid unexpired L1 visa in order to enter back into the U.S.

My Current L1 Visa and I-94 is expiring in Aug 2012 and my same employer is planning to apply to new H1B in this year which will start from Oct1 2012.
what should is best recommended way/procedure
to stay and work after my L1 and I94 expires in Aug 2012 and before the start of New H1B Visa in oct 2012 ?
