Can I apply for L2 when I have a valid L1B visa?

Hi, I have a valid L1B visa. If I apply for L2, what would happen to my current L1B visa? Please share your ideas. Thanks!

If your spouse is maintaining a valid L1 status you can file for L2. When you go for stamping it depends onthe VO that he/she may cancel the existing L1B. Most probably it will get cancelled in your passport. The advantage of L2 is you can work and shift jobs, the disadvantage is, if L1 is not maintained by your spouse you will automatically lose the L2 status, and if L1 in you rpassport had been cancelled you would have to reapply. This is my opinion, do consult experts too.
