Visa approved but passport not returned yet

I had my US Visa interview on 28th Feb, 2012 in US New Delhi consulate. My visa was approved (please note it was NOT put on hold - it was approved). The VO said that the passport will be returned to me within 5 working days. It is 6 days now but I haven't heard from the US consulate yet. The VFS online tracking system still shows my status message as “Your passport is under process at U.S. Embassy/ Consulate”. I have tried calling at VFS but the help centre personnel know nothing. I don't know what to do and am worried sick. Its an individual L1 petition.

What can be causing the hold up? Can they reject the visa now after approving it in the interview? Please respond

Don't worry! same case with me last year. It took 3weeks of time for me to get my stampped passport after the visa approval. That was with the Hyderabad consulate. I even inquired there personally and they said they need to do some verification and it is causing the delay. But sure you will get it.

Thanks for your response - it certainly reduces my tension Were you asked to submit any additional documents? Which visa category did you apply for?
