L1B expiring, have valid I94. Is it legal to work after visa expiration?

I am on L1B visa currently which expires in August 2012. However I have I-94 valid till Jan 2015. Can I stay and work legally for the same employer even after my visa expiration with valid I-94? I have been in US for 1.5 years. I see mixed comments everywhere.

Visa is an entry document, it allows one to enter US, one can enter US only with a valid visa. I-94 is the stay document it allows one to stay in US till its validity. As your visa is valid till Aug 2012 you can enter US till that time. As your I-94 is valid till 2015 you stay here till that time and work, provided, of course, if your employer is also willing. If for some reason you leave US after August 2012 you cannot re-enter without a fresh visa stamping. This is my opinion, please do consult experts too.
