L1 and L2 Renewal?

Hi, I am on L2 and my husband's L1 is expiring end of April 2012. He is applying for L1 renewal via premium processing by end of this week. My questions are

1- can I (L2) travel outside USA while L1/L2 petition decision is pending with USCIS

2- Can L1 and L2 stay in USA while the petition decision is pending with USCIS.

3- Is L1/L2 visa stamping done inside USA or do we need to travel back to our "home country = India" for L1 and L2 visa stamping?

1. It is not advisable to travel while the extension request is pending with USCIS.
2. Yes, L1/L2 can stay in US as long as the extension request was received by USCIS before the current I94 expiry date.
3. You are applying for the extension of stay, not visa stamp. Visa stamp is an entry document and not required to stay in US, it is needed only to enter into US. If you travel out of US after the current visa expiry, you must get the visa stamped in a US embassy in order to return to US.
Also, when you say "He is applying for L1 renewal", are you not filing L2 extension also?
