L1-B petition Renewal

My L1-B visa which was stamped on april 2010 ,expires on april 2013 and i have i-94 valid till dec 2013.
But due to family reasons , i have to go india in dec 2012 and i will not return to USA atleast before dec 2013.

I have question:

A]after i go to india in dec 2012, can my employer file for my L1-B petition renewal(if yes then for how many years).. from India.. ?
B] If Petition if filed for renewal, do i have to attend visa interview again or is it just a paperwork...

>>> Possible. Total year on L1B / L1 individual is 5 years. Your employer can keep filing extension until the 5 year limit of met. Only the time spend in U.S in L1 (+ H1B) status will be counted against 5 year period.

>>> You need a valid visa stamped in the passport as of the date of your travel to U.S. If you don't have one, then you need to apply and get a new L1 visa stamped in your passport.
