I 94 Expiration Date Greater than L1 Visa End date

Hey Folks,

I'm currently on L1 B Visa from 2010 untill 2013. During my recent travel back from India in Jan 2012, I got an I 94 valid intill 2015. Does this mean I stay in US untill 2015 though my visa is not valid after 2013? Pls note I have been on LI B from 2007 till 2010 as well.. Any suggestion appreciated!

I 94 Expiration Date Greater than L1 Visa End date

L1B Visa is for a period of Max 5 Years irrespective of the validity of your I-94. You should see as to how long you have been on the current L1B and plan either a COS to another visa or to leave after completion of 5 Years. This is my opinion please do consult experts too.

You cannot stay in L1 for more than 5 years. The responsibility of following the immigration laws are on you. You cannot take advantage of a mistake done by an officer at the POE. If figured out later, it will have bigger consequences on your future petitions, visa stamping and GC process.
