I94 extn query

My L1 B/I94 is valid till Oct 2012. Given that most of the L1B extensions are being given a thumbs down by USCIS, I am planning to visit india for a week in July/Aug. Will the I94 be extended for at least a year at POE on my trip back ? Also if i make a trip to Canada/Mexico, is the process still the same ?

You can try your luck. As of recent experiences that some have been having, when they return they are given I-94 till their visa date not the default 3 Years that was given earlier. This is my opinion do consult experts too.
