Status of B1 visa while applying for L2 visa

I hold a valid B1 visa for 10 years. I have travelled once to US for 2 months for business purpose through my company. My husband has recently travelled to US through L1A visa for 3 years. I have resinged my job and I am plannign to join my husband shortly, so I have applied for L2 visa. I would like to know while getting an L2 visa, will my B1 visa still retained and valid or would they cancel it. please calrify me.

That totally depends on the Consular officer. They may or may not cancel the existing Visas. Cancellation does not affect future Visa applications.
