  • L1 A VISA Extension

I have an L1 A VISA currently valid till April 2013. Prior to that I had L1 B from 2007 to 2010. So I wanted to check how long can I extend it for again? Also my Green Card in EB2 is pending processing, but it will most probably not arrive by 2013, so want to see what options I have for VISA extension in L1 A or otherwise. Also how will my duration of stay and limit of total of 7 years be calculated given I first arrived to US in 2009. thanks for the help!

L1A in total is for 7 years. It is a combination of your stay in U.S in H1B status + L1 status combined.

Got it. Thanks for the clarification. So effectively I would have completed only 4 years of stay in L1 by 2013 based on my VISA dates and can get another 3 years more of extension on L1. Is that correct? thanks again!

You would have to calculate based on the exact dates you entered and left US on all your previous visas to determine that.

wonderful...thanks! Yes I entered first time in 2009 and by 2013 would have spent close to 4 years (as i went back couple of times for couple of months). All i wanted to clarify was that 7 years is not VISA duration rather duration of stay which sounds is the latter.

As I have clearly mentioned in my previous reply, it is the duration of stay in U.S in H1B status + L1 status combined.
