  • L2 VISA interview

    Hi,

I have L1-Blanket VISA valid till Aug, 2014. My wife is having her L2 VISA interview on 28th June 2012. I am going to USA on 30-Jun-2012, she will join me in US on 29-July-2012.

I tried to find out questions for her L2 VISA interview but did not find any relevant questions. Most of the posted questions are for L1.

Can you please let me know what set of question she needs to prepare (any other post link is also helpful)?

    Thank you in advance.

There is nothing to prepare and it is not like that they have a set of questions to ask as in work interviews. The questions will different from one VO to another. The questions will most likely be about the primary L1 holders employment in U.S and about your marriage (how you met, where you got married, How long you knew each other before the marriage etc).

Thanks a lot for the reply..

Actually I was not asking for the exact question to be asked but only the subjects on which VO can ask the question.

In your reply, I got my answer that the VO can ask about employment of L1 holder and about marriage.

      Thanks.

Interview for L2 Visa on 2nd July 2012

        Hi,

My wife's company has applied for my L2 visa and my interview date is on 2nd July 2012. My wife went to US on 10th June 2012 on L1 visa for her long term assignment.

I am in lot of confusion about my approval of L2 visa as I have not gone through a single thread here of L2 visa for husbands. (as all are of wife applying for L2 visa)

Also, want help on the type of questions asked to L2 applicants and specifically when Husband is applying for L2. My wife has left first on L1 and she is now in US so is there would be any concern about why I have not applied along with my wife?

Do I need to carry my educational certificates, experience letter, present employer's appointment letter etc.?

        Please reply on urgent basis.

        Thanks in advance.

          >>> There is no gender bias. You will be treated and questioned exactly the same as any other L2 visa applicant.

          >>> There is no harm in carry all that. Keep them with you when you attend the visa interview.

            L2 Visa for Husbands

            Thanks for your reply.

Also, would like to know that what is the success rate of L2 visa and if rejected, what could be the reasons?

We do not have any such metrics. If you have all the required doucments, then you will get the visa stamped successfully. The basic reason for rejection is insufficient documents, fraud or criminal background. If all these are good, even if a 221g is issued, the visa will get approved later after a successful admin processing.

                L2 Visa interview

Just a small and last question, I have heard that if I am working in some organization and going for L2 interview I need to go for interview with No Objection Letter from my current employer.

                Is it true?

And for your information, I don't want to inform my employer about this. Also, I am planning to resign from my current job once I get L2 visa.

Please suggest as soon as possible.

                Thanks in advance.

It might be required in case you work for defence/chemical/biology other sensitive related fields. Otherwise you can tell the VO that you will resign/apply for long leave once you get the L2. This is my opinion, not legal advice.

L2 Visa got approved on 2nd July 2012 - Mumbai consulate

                    Hi,

Thanks for all your guidance and help. My L2 visa got approved today at Mumbai Consulate.

                    Below is my experience:
The visa interview was scheduled at 8:30 but I reached at 7:30 and was in a long queue. After all formalities I was at the Visa Counter.

                    Me: Good morning
                    VO: Good morning

VO: What will you do in US?
Me: Yet not decided but want to first be with my wife and then I will take a job (if I get one) in my field after getting EAD for L2

VO: Show me your wedding photos
Me: I have shown my wedding photos. Meanwhile.....

VO: What is your wife's name?
                    Me: XX YY

VO: Your photos are really pretty.
                    Me: Thanks

VO: Ok, your visa is approved. You will get in couple of days.
                    Me: Thanks.

It was really simple. Thanks immhelp for all suggestions and support to prepare for my interview.

                      Applying for L2 Visa

I will be getting married on August 2nd 2012. Currently my fiancee is working in US on L1 visa. I am planning to apply for L2 visa and book a slot for visa interview immediately after marriage so that I can travel along with my husband to US. Is there any risk in applying for visa before marriage stating as Dependant of my fiancee in DS 160 ?

No issues. You just need to be married as of the date of the visa interview and you should have your marriage cerificate and marriage photographs as proof.

                          Hi,

My wife is already in the US and I will be having an L2 interview soon. We both work in the same organisation so our employer is applying my L2 visa.
I already have a B2 visa which is valid till 2021 but on that i cannot stay more than 6 months and cannot work as well. My wife's I-94 has expiry date of aug 31st and she would be starting her extension in Feb 2013 itself as per our company norms.

                          I had few questions:

                          1) What should I tell them if they ask "Will you work there"? In BigB's post he mentioned "yet not decided and that he would take up after EAD for L2". It worked for him but I understand it depends on case to case. I really need a concrete answer on this one. I am getting different advises from people on this questions. Some are saying you tell them you will work or something like my top priority is to be with my wife and that I will be on a sabbatical.
                          2) Can they ask to travel on my B2 visa? But my wife's duration is more than 6 months so can I mention that to the VO that since her duration is more than 6 months and I cannot stay beyond 6 months on B2 hence we have applied for L2?

                          Thanks.
