Can L2 extension alone can be applied without doing L1 extension?

Hi,

As I have posted already that I have I-94 validity till 2015, but my L1b visa gets expired this October.
My wife is travelling in L2 here to US and her visa also expires by this October. If she has been given I-94 also only till this October.
Can L2 extension alone can be applied???

My organization says that L1 extension cannot be done now as i have I-94 validity till 2015.

As of knowledge, it is not possible. L2 extension cannot be filed based on L1's I-94. It will be granted only as per L1's petition expiry date. Give a copy of your I-94 to your wife and ask her to show it to the officer at the POE and request to see if she can also get the I-94 with the same expiry date so that there is no need to file the L2 extension. It may or may not work. But no harm in giving it a try. Feel free to consult an immigration attorney.
