  • COS from L1 to L2 and EAD

    Hi,

Im currently on my L1-B visa and tied to my company. I want to change jobs and hence looking to move to L2 visa as dependent on my spouse. What is the procedure & forms required to fill for COS from L1-B to L2. Also i want to file EAD together. Can someone help list the forms & documents required.

Also i have heard that once my COS is approved, i cannot work until EAD has been received? How long does L2 processing & EAD take when filed together? As i want to continue to work for my employer and dont want to inform him about the L2 change?

    Thanks,
    Katey

My I94 is valid upto Feb 2014 and my spouse i94 is valid upto Dec 2013. Please can you advice on the forms and documents to process L2 and EAD simultaneously so I can get that started at the earliest.

You will have to file I-539, Change or Extension of Status to change from L1 to L2.

Once you are on L2, you are no longer on L1. Therefore, if you get your status changed to L2, you can't work until you get EAD.

Thanks but what for a need to be filled for EAD which needs to be filed along with COS? I was told I can have both started together.
