Do I really have to go back to Canada, do a U-Turn in the airport and fly back?

I am in Louisiana on a film shoot. My I-797 VISA finally arrived and was delivered to my office in Canada. I am being told that I have to fly to Toronto, meet someone there with my VISA, walk to another gate and fly back. Has anyone done this? Is there a way around it? It seems like a waste of day and a lot of money on airfare.
