Validity of I visa after job loss

Hi, I have an I visa, I am thinking of taking a buy out, how long can I stay in the country after my employment contract is terminated ? I want to know for how long my visa will be valid once I am out of my job. Will I have to leave the country immediately or will I be legally allowed to stay back and look for another job ?
