  • P Visa

My (British) wife has been granted a P Visa (She's going for nine days to New York as a musician, with her orchestra) and I'm going on a visitor's Visa Waiver. Back in February when visa applications began, her management said they would handle the details and all they needed were our travel details - flights, and dates, and they would do the rest. Her DS156 (completed by her manager on her behalf) states 25 days as the length of her stay, (which would cover our holiday period after the tour) but the reason for the visit was given only as Orchestra Tour (no mention of our staying on for a vacation) The Visa was issued in London and says she can only stay 10 days beyond the end of the tour, and not the fifteen we requested (presumably because no mention was made of the holiday in the reason for the trip) The US embassy in London says the only way round this problem is for her to leave US after 20 days and re-enter on a Visa Waiver programme. (They mentioned Canada and Mexico as places to go to and come back from) Is there a quick way we can sort the shortfall, and if she DOES leave the US and re-enter can she do so from the Bahamas? We have a flight booked to Orlando from NYC the day after her tour ends so a flight to Nassau from Florida would be the shortest (and cheapest) option once we reach there.

    Thanks
