Hi everyone
I'm having some trouble figuring out whether I need to get a new O2 visa or not, as the info on the official pages is a little vague.
Last year I thought I'd lost my New Zealand passport with my O2 visa in it, so reported it lost to the NZ police, cancelled it and got a new one. I then found it again shortly after, so didn't end up reporting the visa as lost to the US Embassy/consulate in Melbourne where it was issued.
Can I use the visa in my old cancelled passport? From what I can see it's ok to use a visa in an expired passport, but I can't find anything on whether a cancelled passport is ok. I did find some info stating that you couldn't use a visa in a passport that had 'been reported as lost', however it was only the NZ police who I reported that to, not the US consulate, so hard to know if that counts as 'reported lost'?
Any help as to whether I need to get a new visa or not would be greatly appreciated.
