I recently received my I-797 approval notice for extension of O-1 (Feb 2015 - Feb 2018). I've held an O-1 x 15 years and been renewing every few years.
Visa stamp expires February 15, 2015. I-94 expires February 25, 2015. I currently live in Dallas. It takes time to schedule a US consulate appointment for renewal of visa stamp. I usually get this done at the Ottawa consulate.
My Texas driver's license expires Feb 15 2015, coinciding with visa expiration date.
Is the I-797 approval sufficient to prove legal status despite an expiring visa stamp, to allow me to renew my license? Or do I have to update my visa stamp and I-94?
I know that Texas DMV utilizes the USCIS SAVE Verification Program, but I've had issues with DMV employees in the past.
