How to expedite H4 to F1 transfer?

Hii,
I am doing my masters and i have completed 1 semsester on H4 visa. Now i am getting an assistanship chance so need to get converted to F-1. Is there a way to expedite this process? The College International Association said it would take 6 months.
Can i atleast apply and show the application papers to qualify for the assistanceship?
Please Please help!
