I am wondering what are the reasons for an I-130 petition to be denied? Is it simply down to misinformation when filling out the form is it down to more like not having a good enough reason to want to relocate to the US from your current country?

Why can an I-130 be denied?

Before giving you a qualified answer to your question...it would help to know the basis for the I-130. What relationship and U.S. status (citizen, Green Card, employer) of the petitioner would help answer you.
An I-130 petition is not routinely denied unless the petitioner fails to respond to a Request for Evidence (RFE).
On the other hand, lack of signatures, using outdated form(s), and anything wrong with payment check, all these can get the package rejected and returned (but not denied).
