  • Best way to deal with immigration

    Hello all,

I am a dual citizen, US and British, and my husband is Portuguese. We have resided in the UK since 04/2013 and were married in 05/2015 in Italy. My husband is a surgeon and has been offered a 2 year Fellowship (work training) in the US beginning 07/2017, but we will reside in the UK until then. We need advice on the best way to go about the move to the US, ultimately with him getting his green card then US citizenship.

I see that we could apply for the I-130, then the I-129F for a K3 Visa to allow him to live/work while this is being processed, but it appears to take a very long time. And, if it happened too on would it expire? Is this the best/easiest route or would it be through sponsorship from the hospital (H1B?). Or, alternatively, can we do both at the same time without issue?

I also see that I would need to file for the K3 in the Country we married in, so the Italian Embassy. Is this difficult?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Kind regards.
