Question about I-601.

I came to United States with ESTA and overstayed more than 1 year and currently preparing for a green card. Will i have to prepare for I-601 or I-601a after the USCIS interview later?

I do not know the process and was wondering will the interviewing officer tell me to fill an I-601 or an I-601a. (Never done any crimes.)
