  • Green Card

    Hi,

I would like to know that, If I get Green Card, can I bring my Dependants (Father, Mother and Wife) with me on my Green Card or I have to file separate application for another type of visa?

    Thanks,
    Mahesh

You can only file for your parents' green card when you become a US citizen.
They will have to come and visit you on a visitor visa till you become a citizen.

    About wife, you have to tell me ;
*the category of your green card petition,
is it in the employment category or the family category.
    * If the family category, who filed your petition ?
*Have you got your GC or is it still in process?

Thank you *peace* for your reply.

      >You can only file for your parents' green card when you become a US citizen.
      >They will have to come and visit you on a visitor visa till you become a citizen.

      1) "when you become a US citizen"; did you mean Green Card Holder?
      2) How long it will take to get my parents' green card from I apply for Green Card?
      3) If I become US citizen, could they come on my Green Card without any other VISA?

      >is it in the employment category or the family category.
It is in the employment category and still in process.

NO. You understand it all wrong.

Green card holder is totally different from US citizen.
You first get a green card and you can become a citizen after living in US for 3 to 5 years (depending on how you got your green card)

Only after becoming a citizen you can apply for your parents' green card
which will take about a year. They can then come to US on their green card.
