A friend of mine came to the Mississippi Gulf Coast from Canada shortly after Hurricane Katrina to volunteer with a youth group.
Over the past year and a half she has been back and fourth every 85 days and returned for legal purposes but now she would like to stay, get steady employment, and an apartment of her own instead of sleeping on cots every night while at the same time volunteer at the ******* she has been at since Sept 2005.
Does anyone here know the best way to get this for her? Eventually she would like full citizenship but for the time being just wants to legitamize herself here and get out of the "30 cot mansion" as she calls it.
From looking online the only way for an employment visa is to be sponsored by an employer, however noone will even interview her without her having a permit...is there a way around this catch-22?
Thank you for any help you can.
