    Tricky ...

... if you're on H1B and your mother is a single parent to you with no other supporters then she can come to the US with you as a dependant on H4 visa.

I've known many people to use this above strategy in case their single parent wants to live for a longer time period in the US.

However, once you're married and change your visa status, then your mother can only come to the US as a visitor for up to six months.

Once you're a permanent resident then you can file for your mother's GC, but it takes a very long time and during this period she may not be able to get a visitor visa.

Do go through other's opinions on the subject matter, but it would be in your best interest to consult a senior immigration attorney.

Good luck to you and your family.

Permanent Residents can not file for a parent's GC. I am sure you meant US Citizen?

You don't file for your H1B visa. A company must sponsor you, read here: http://immihelp.comhttps://www.immih...m/usa-h1-visa/

Your mother may visit. She may not live with you in the US.

She must apply for a visitors visa and VISIT. It does not matter if she is dependent on you, she may not LIVE in US. On an H1B visa, only a spouse or child is a dependent.

If she is truly dependent on you, don't waste your time or cost another visa applicant the opportunity to work in US because there is nothing that you can legally do to bring your mother to live in US with you.
