  • husband's passport taken away

Help! I have a question regarding my husband's immigration application. We have been married for 2 1/2 yrs and we have a 14 year old daughter together(both my daughter and i are US citizens). He lives in Cd Juarez, Mex and I live in El Paso, Tx. He had his interview at the consular office in Juarez on March 11,08. We have no experience with immigration proceedings, so at the time of his interview, i did not go with him. he forgot to take my original birth certificate with him (only had a copy). When they asked him for the original, he did not have it. They told him that he needed to make another appointment and to bring back all the documents and my birth certificate. The problem is that they took his passport (border crosser card) away and now he can't come into the US. We called to make an appointment to take the documents and they said we have to wait 6 months before we can make an appointment. Is this normal?
    Please help!

Was he given a document like 221g? In general, no new appointment is needed for such cases if one has to produce additional documents in support of an existing application.

What visa did he apply for? Was it for a visa or permanent resident interview that he went to?

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
