Hello,
I am looking for some information on the rules and regulations surrounding my visa in the US, and am hoping some of your folks out there might have some wise words...
I am currently working and living in the US on an O-1 non-immigrant visa (I am British), and have the maximum 3 years until I need to think about extending. The visa is based on my employment at a specific company.
My questions are:
1 - Is there any situation in which I could work as an independent contractor for the company rather than as a permanent employee on payroll (this would enable me to take freelance work too in the UK)?
2 - What is the process for applying for a Green Card if you are an O-1 visa holder? Is the fact that you have already proven yourself to be an 'alien of extraordinary ability' for the O-1 visa process any help, and is there any fasttrack way of applying for the Green Card?
Any words of advise, experience or help would be gratefully received!
Many thanks
LS
