Hello Everyone,
My husband, a permanent resident and I, a US citizen are expecting our first child. A happy happy event, but one which comes with a lot of responsibility. My mother in law is eager to help us raise our child and take care of me in the aftermath of birth as is typical in my husbands home culture (and save us a huge financial burden which would have buried us alive in debt). I would like her to stay for around 1 year to help us in this very important aspect of raising a child and for my husband to finish a program which will allow him to begin a career and have money for outside childcare ㅡ what sort of longer-term VISA options do we have? And no, she does not want to immigrate. My in-laws are very happy in their marriage and life at home and well off in their home country so my MIL wouldn't be looking to leave permanently.
