name change in passport
Hello all,
i'd like to change my name in passport and would like to know others' experience regarding the same. Also have a few questions and i;d really appreciate if someone can answer these..
1) The requirement says "Court Order issued by a judicial officer not below the rank of first class magistrate in India or affidavit by the applicant are required to be submitted" and i presume one has to be physically present in india for the affidavit (yes/no?)
2) "2 newspaper clippings(one in india and one in US) and a new passport application"..
If i receive a new passport with new name what happens to my existing passport with F-1 visa in the old name? do i also get a new F1 visa?
3) I heard some people say "publish your change in name in the gazette of india" for the change in name to be official.. but the requirements here does not mention anything about that?.. please clarify ..
Please let me know if iam missing any other details or procedures..
