  • Sponsor Question

I have a really close friend in India. He is a young man just graduated college. He wants to come to U.S. to visit me and I really would like him to come for a visit. Looking at the requirements, the U.S. doesn't seem to want
a young unmarried man with no money to come for a visit unless he is sponsored. I have no problem sponsoring him to come here..
what I want to know is... WHY does a sponsor have to give out their bank account numbers, their retirement fund account numbers? this requirement leaves that U.S. citizen open for ID theft. I'm not concerned about him, but other people who could get a hold of the information. I dont' mind showing the financial information...how much is in the bank, how much is in retirement fund, how much income from Social Security I get, but we should be allowed to black out the actual account numbers that go with this financial information. Or they should be able to fill out a form stating what they have in a bank account, retirement fund, income and all and have it notarized and that should be enough.
also... I am retired...will they accept Social Security as income?? I only support myself so no dependents to support. The young man will be staying in my home while he is here, and I will be fixing his meals and all and when it is time for him to go back home, I'll take him to airport to board the plane.
What can I do to have a better chance of him being allowed a Visa to come here to visit with me?
    thank you
    Barbara
