  • Expiring G-4, now fiance?

    Perhaps you can help us.
My fiance lost his job at an international bank who sponsored his G-4 visa. His official visa expiration date is June 30th of this year. We have been a couple since 2005, and only recently decided to get married. This should be an easy scenario, but it's not. My ex-husband and I have been separated for 9 years, but have only recently filed for divorce. (thank goodness he has a girlfriend now, or I'd still be handing him papers every 6 months like I have for the past 4 years). Anyway, we have a court date, but it's on July 17th, which is obviously past the June 30th deadline on my fiance's visa. Can he stay (overstay?) in the country as long as we get married as soon as possible? We can't apply for adjustment of status until my divorce is finally finalized. I know he could go home, then we apply for a k-1, and wait and wait and wait... What's the best way to do this while avoiding him having to return to Spain to wait for a K-1 to be approved? Advice anyone? Thank you!
