  • Options for bringing my gf to the USA

My girlfriend resides in the last hell hole in Europe - Belarus. I think we're going to probably get engaged, but I'm afraid about getting her to the US on a K1 visa. 90 days is just not enough time to plan a wedding, and get her accustomed to the US. I'm wondering if people have some ideas for what could be done? She still has a year of school left in Belarus, and she would have to take classes here. However, I'm doubtful the Belarussian gov't would release her on a student visa (or that she could pass the SAT/TOEFL at this point in time.) My mom has a business that could employ her, but again, it's questionable that Belarus would let her out on a work visa and that the US would take her.

So I'm basically in a conundrum. I want to get her here as fast as possible, get her to go to school and used to this country, but I do not want to do the wedding in 90 days. Ideas?

If you're not even sure if you will get engaged, getting a fiancee visa is a moot point. And looks like she would hardly qualify (or if at all) for an H1B visa. So, work and marriage are out of the question. For some reason, you don't think she would get a student visa (which, OBTW, she would need to show acceptance papers to a US university).

    I would say a J-1 visa, as au-pair - but you also say she doesn't speak english, so . . .

She has to learn english and then maybe j1visa.state.gov/programs/au-pair/ - or, of course, she could apply for a B1/B2 visa - though if she's still in school, doesn't have a job and doesn't speak english, her chances of getting it are dim.

I honestly don't care, but your post is a bit confusing. She's your gf, but you have no plans to marry her for the time being, however would like for her to come to the US for a long-term stay. Very confusing.
