Dear Sir/Madame,
I am a British citizen currently in the USA on a B-1 visa for religious activities. This visa expires on the Jan 13, 2009. However, having worked as a voluntary missionary with a church in Nashville, TN for the past number of months they have now offered me a job, on a 2 year contract, as a Youth Worker. So, I am in a situation where I not only need to extend my period of stay in the States, but I also need to apply for a change of status to a temporary worker, or a religious worker. I have tried to research through the government website as much as I could be I can't seem to find definitive answers on what paperwork is required and who it is that needs to file that paperwork, whether it is me or the employer. I have also tried phoning up the immigration services but cannot seem to get connected, although I will continue to try. I also, need to know whether I need to go back to the UK to make these changes for whether I can apply for them here in the States.
I would really appreciate some advice on what to do next.
