Hi. I am currently working full time in Atlanta on OPT(graduated in May 2012 with a BS) and I recently misplaced my Indian passport with F1 visa, I94 and I20. I have obtained a new passport from the embassy at Atlanta. I am travelling to India tomorrow and have scheduled a visa interview. Can I please know if it is safe to do that? Will it be a problem to get a visa re-issued even if I have really solid documentation (employment related)? Please let me know. A quick answer will be really appreciated! please help me in this state of mess! Thanks a lot.

Any F1 Visa application is risky in general. Being on OPT makes it more risky. Documents play very little role, most applicants are not asked for a single document anyway. But as usual you should be prepared to provide evidence that you will return to home country after finishing studies and in your case OPT.
If getting an F1 Visa is the only purpose of your trip, I would advise against traveling.This is my opinion and not legal advice. -
Got my F1 visa reissued in 1 day. no problems what so ever.
