Travelling on F2

I am travelling on F2 visa this december.My husband Studies in cincinnati university .
We planned to stay at salt lake city for the holidays and go back to his university so i will be entering into salt lake city port of entry directly.
Will that create any problem at port of entry like why are you going to slc when your husband studies in cincinnati.

Also i have my H1 b petition approved . I plan to file for COS once i get a job .
Will i have to stay in US for 6 months to file COS for F2 to H1 or can i file it as soon as i get any job ?

No problem in entering at any POE.

Did his H1 petition include change of status also? If so you will not be able to enter in F2 status, you will need H4 Visa. Otherwise there is no waiting period for filing change of status to any other status. If you want to change to H1 yourself, you will of course need to wait until the next cap filing period (April1 filing-October 1 start).
