  • F2 Visa help

    Hello All,

I am working full time on OPT expiring in End of June 2013. My H1-B will be processed in April 2013. I plan to apply for F2 visa for my spouse in mid Feb.
    1) What financial documents should she carry apart from bank statements? Can someone please provide me bank statement sample.
    2) Should I send copies of my pay stubs, OPT card, Offer Letter?
    3) Is I-134 needed? I am not a US citizen but I am in US for past 4 years for study and now work.
    4) For the question in DS 160 regarding duration of stay, I entered 5 months (Feb - June). Would the visa would be rejected for the small duration?
    5) should she mention that my H1 would be filed in April 2013?

Please comment. Any additional advise is always welcome.

    Thanks!

    1) What financial documents should she carry apart from bank statements? Can someone please provide me bank statement sample. -- Bank statements showing available funds can be obtained from your bank. There is no format, the bank will provide in their own format.
    2) Should I send copies of my pay stubs, OPT card, Offer Letter? -- Yes, your spouse only needs to present this if asked for.
    3) Is I-134 needed? I am not a US citizen but I am in US for past 4 years for study and now work. -- It is not needed, a plain paper letter, that you have sufficient funds and you will take care of all expenses is enought.
    4) For the question in DS 160 regarding duration of stay, I entered 5 months (Feb - June). Would the visa would be rejected for the small duration? -- No, that is the permitted duration anyway.
    5) should she mention that my H1 would be filed in April 2013? -- If asked for, she should answer truthfully.

Please comment. Any additional advise is always welcome.

    Thanks!
More than any documents, confident and truthful answers are important. She should know what ties she has to the home country. She should know how you two got married. She should know what she will do in the US since she is not allowed to work or study in F2 status.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

      Question regarding I-134 for F2

Hi, I also seem to have the same question,

Is I-134 required for filing visa application for F2? I am currently on F1 as a PHD student. My wife is in India. She will file for F2. We have an I20 issued by my school for her (as dependent's copy). I will also show my bank accounts for funds. In addition, do I need to fill up the I-134 form? In that case, there is a section (section 7 ) in I -134, where it asks for " I am employed or engaged in the business of ...' What should I write here? Student? who is my employer? The university? Please help!

      Thanks.
