  • OPT unemployment period?

    Hi All,

I was wondering about the 90-day unemployment rule for post-completion OPT. Can this accumulation be consecutive days?
Let's say my OPT period starts August 1, then till what date can I put-off job search? I am in a STEM field.

The question is not clear. What do you mean by consecutive days?

The total period of time you are unemployed is 90 days duing the 365 days of OPT. If those 90 days are used up at the beginning of OPT, you will go out of status.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

Ok, I got it. I was just wondering what if it takes 1 month to find a job, so basically, I am losing 30 days, right? And I will have 60 more days for the remaining duration of OPT.
