After reading posts in different forums , I feel, for some reason, H4-f1 COS takes much longer than from H1-F1 COS. As usual there will be exceptions to this.

Here is the link on USCIS site that shows processing times. http://www.immihelp.com/processing-times/

To be frank, the processing times don't change much, atleast when I saw I539 processing. So that's not encouraging.

Any how, all the best my friend.

Did you actually use ELIS? I talked to a lawyer and I was told that I should use physically mail out the application and that ELIS doesn't really work. Can anyone vouch whether ELIS works and if it is faster than paper application? Thanks!

Yes, I used ELIS and did it online myself. Didn't even a ask a lawyer. If your case doesn't have complications, have all things that are needed, then go ahead with ELIS. Got it done in 3 months. It works. Now, in the present situation of DOL furloughed, I wonder how it affects visa processing in different categories and if physical application is better than online.

@upengan : I saw that your ELIS application was accepted within 2.5 months. I applied on Nov 18 and my status on the ELIS website shows that it is "accepted". It has not gone to "optimized" yet ? How long did it take for your application to go to "optimized" ?

              Thanks
