  • DS-160 Query on Relatives

    Hello friends,

I am applying for the F-1 Visa and I have a question concerning the question "Do you have any other relatives in USA?" when filling the DS-160. I have an aunt who is a greencard holder but currently living outside the US while only visiting the US occasionally. I have learned from this site that "relatives are those who could file an immigrant visa petition for you". But my aunt could not file such a petition for me. So should I put a "YES" or "NO" to this question? Who could accurately define "relatives" and "in USA" in this question?

    Thanks a lot!

Only direct relatives like parents, spouse, children and siblings need to be mentioned.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

Thanks kabkaba! But would the visa officers think that you are trying to hide the fact that you have a relative in the USA since the question in DS-160 is "Do you have any other relative in USA?"

      Thanks again!
